摘要:Fractional quantum Hall (FQH) states are an epitome of phases of matter with intrinsic topological order. Conventional FQH states emerge in two-dimensional (2D) electron gas in a perpendicular magnetic field. However, in the past decade, it has been realized that FQH physics is not exclusive to such a continuum setup. There are lattice analogs of FQH states, dubbed as fractional Chern insulators (FCIs), emerging in 2D lattice models that possess isolated flat bands with nonzero Chern number. Compared with conventional FQH states, FCIs have the advantage that they occur at zero magnetic field and with gaps that are potentially significantly larger. In this talk, based on our recent works, I will introduce FCIs and their relation with conventional FQH states, numerical simulation of FCIs in microscopic models, and the promising realization of FCIs in realistic solid materials like graphene-based Moire superlattice.
